Bicyclists are not allowed to ride across the Mackinac Bridge.
We were shuttled across the straits by Bridge Authority vehicles to the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan. We camped two nights at Straits State Park and spent a
day exploring Mackinac Island.

No motorized vehicles are allowed on the island. Tourist luggage and
supplies are transported by horse and wagon. Bicycles are also a popular
means of getting around.

Fort Mackinac was constructed by the British during the American
Revolution. Several Kibitzers hiked up to explore the fort.

14 original 18th and 19th century buildings are available to
visitors.

The Island House Hotel was built in 1852. One of the Kibitzers stayed
in this hotel 49 years ago.
