The Kibitzers tour through the Greater Yellowstone area was fabulous. We started just south of Livingston, Montana and entered Yellowstone through the North Gate. We camped at Mammoth Hot Springs, Norris and Grant Village. We even enjoyed the luxury of the Old Faithful Inn for a night. From Yellowstone we headed south into Grand Teton National Park and camped at Lizard Creek and Jenny Lake. Leaving Grand Teton National Park we followed the Snake River into Idaho and around to the west side of the Tetons. The final leg of the trip took us back into Yellowstone through the West Gate.

Kibitzers biked through three states, two national parks, one national parkway and crossed the Continental Divide four times.

Is this friggin thing gonna fit?

All Aboard!!

I can't believe we stopped at the Corn Palace!

Where do you put your butt on this things?

Trip starts on foot in Gallatin National Forest.

Heart-leaved Arnica.
Arnica gel is great for relieving sore muscles.

Michael amazed us all by edging onto this log bridge for a picture.

Calling planet earth....

Dinner the night before departure. Everyone
has arrived except Mitch.

All that stuff fit on these 10 bikes...

You can only stuff so much in that pack!

Load em up, boy!

Don Quixote and what's his name.

We ate breakfast at the Old Saloon in Emigrant. The saloon had an old west atmosphere
with the original interior.

Yo, Michael
Those front panniers weighed
20 pounds each (foreshadowing...)

This back road to Yellowstone kept us away from traffic and provided great
views of the Yellowstone River.

Four Horsemen

We were very happy to find cold water and ice cream here after a long ride in the open.

First Bison

Peter and Jerry retrieve Bill and Michael from Bozeman hospital. We're thrilled
that Presser in OK.

Elk were the most prevalent animal.

Early morning at Norris Campground

You get the real feel of the outdoors when you wake up to a 1000+ lb animal grazing outside your tent.

Met up with Marty, Joyce & Sam at Norris. They greeted us on this COLD morning with delicious hot coffee.

Some went hiking, some went to Geyser basin. Mitch, Jerry and Tony hiked along the Solfatara Creek trail.

Norris Geyser basin, deep deep pond

The water is so clear it seems non-existent.

Fumerole across Firehold River, or maybe the Gibbon River?

Not as steep as it looks.

Elk cavort

Falls along Gibbon River. Lots of falls, which usually means a tough climb. Luckily we were going downhill (all the way).

Michael's bison. Michael was sentenced to view a film of park visitors being gored and tossed in the air by bison. He will never do it again...or so he says!

Algae has never been so beautiful!

This would be a fumerole except it's under water. Looks like it would be a great natural hot tub.

What is the physics of this deep blue color?

Each type of algae grows best at a different temperature, thus, the rainbow of colors across a runoff stream.

Old Faithful Lodge interior

Japanese tourist all ran to get into the correct position for a picture just as Old Faithful erupted.

Beer before lousy dinner. It helped!

Six days into trip, totally relaxed.

Bill Chills

Built during the winter of 1903-04, the Old Faithful Inn was designed by Robert C. Reamer, who wanted the asymmetry of the building to reflect the chaos of nature.

Peter's favorite day of biking.

Al joined us. Marty and Tony left. Person on the left is one of the many people Al met before we arrived.

Jerry and Bill put this meal together with bargains from the camp store and tortellini from someone's panniers. The only thing missing was good wine.
